Azores and Madeira Islands

The Azores archipelago was discovered during the early 15th century by Portuguese navigators.  It is located about 907 miles from the European coast and about 2330 miles from North America. Azores consists of nine islands and divided into three groups: Corvo and Flores islands on the western part; Terceira, São Jorge, Graciosa, Pico and Faial Island on the central part; and São Miguel and Santa Maria islands on the eastern part.
