Alvor lies along the hillside between Lagos and Portimao. It is fortified with a protected harbor along the estuary of Ria Alvor. Alvor is traditionally a fishing village but it has grown over the years by extending outwards from the center. Sintra
Sintra is considered a municipality and a town in Portugal. It is located in the district of Lisbon. It is also a World Heritage Site of UNESCO because of its Romantic architecture built in the 19th century. Praia
Praia is the biggest city and the capital of Cape Verde, an island within the west portion of Senegal in the Atlantic Ocean. The word “Praia” means beach in both Cape Verdean Creole and Portuguese. This city lies in the southern part of Santiago Island’s coast within the Sotavento Island group. Lagos
Lagos is a municipality and a city situated at the mouth of the Bensafrim River. It also lies beside the Atlantic Ocean, in the area of Algarve, in Algarve’s Barlavento, Southern Portugal. The city itself has a populace of about 18,000 and the municipality has a total population of more than 27,000 inhabitants. It is both a well-loved tourist destination and a historic city. Albufeira is a Portuguese municipality and city in the district of Faro, Algarve region. Albuferia city proper has about 19,500 inhabitants. In addition, the whole city of Albufeira has a population of more than 35,000 residents and a total area of about 140 square kilometers. Aqualva-Cacem
Aqualva Cacem is a city of the Sintra municipality in Portugal. It is also under the district of Lisbon. It is one of the two towns of Sintra. The other town in Sintra is called Queluz. Aqualva-Cacem has a population of approximately 120,845 according to the 2001 Census. It is also the fourth biggest city within Lisbon’s metropolitan area just after the metropolitan areas of Almada, Amadora, Setubal and Lisbon itself. Funchal
Funchal is a major city in Madeira Island, Portugal. It is the capital city of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. This city is uniquely situated in the Madeira Island area because its geological features resemble an “amphitheater” that surrounds the city. This amphitheater form starts from the city’s harbor and rises about 1,200 meters high on its gentle slopes. It has a population of 100,526. It is also the biggest city among the islands of Madeira.
